There is a place - under the freeway

The project, There is a place, often explores themes of space, memory, and human interaction with the environment. Frequently, my focus is on unnoticed or overlooked corners of urban and natural landscapes within Los Angeles, seeking to present them in a way that evokes contemplation and the potential for connection.

In the series, There is a place - under the freeway, I chose this defining feature of the city - a space that many would consider mundane or even bleak - as a starting point to explore the contrast between the built environment and natural or emotional experiences. These under-the-freeway spaces tend to be transitional zones, often dismissed as functional but uninviting, yet I find hidden layers of meaning, tension, or beauty in such places. This work forms a broader exploration of the intersection between the urban and the natural in my recent project about Los Angeles, revealing another layer how we inhabit and experience spaces that are often passed by without much thought.
